With 1 in 5 US adults experiencing mental illness each year, many leaders will find themselves in that statistic in one way or another. Experiencing a mental illness can be lonely, scary and shameful, often preventing people from getting the help they need, when they need it.
If you are a leader struggling with mental illness, there are ways to lead effectively in the midst of your challenges. If one of your team members faces a mental health challenge, you can be equipped to support them in their journey. Regardless of where you may find yourself along this spectrum, there are practical ways to navigate the situation and lead with mental illness in mind.
Learning Objectives:
Often people consider self-care to be pedicures, massages or taking a long vacation. Stressed, anxious, burned-out adults don’t have time for those or don’t want to do those activities. We often use the excuse of being “too busy” to avoid taking care of ourselves. It doesn’t have to be that way.
What if we could leverage different, healthy ways to reduce our stress and anxiety? What if self-care could be added to our already full plates without increasing our stress? Practicing regular, simple self-care techniques may be easier than you think. In this session we will experience the benefits of a few self-care activities that can be done anytime, anywhere.

I am a professional speaker and mental health advocate.
Through my experiences in the mental health industry, both as a patient and a parent, I have discovered proven strategies to help people navigate mental illness with less stress and more joy. Whether you are a board room executive with severe anxiety, a parent with a depressed teen, or somewhere in between, I have stories, insights, and science backed tools for you to navigate your journey.
When not equipping people to better manage their mental health journey, you can find me outside in nature: trail running, hiking or rock climbing. I spend my MN winters inside curled up with a good book and hanging out with my family.
